(This is the second week of The Love Month Meme and this week we were asked to share our most memorable Valentines.)
.
What makes a memorable Valentines? Personally, all my Valentines are memorable. Seriously. I can remember each and every Valentines of my life with all those minute details and what gifts I got. Even from those people I didn’t care much for. So if I had to relate all those memorable moments, it would take me forever.
.
So I’ll just share 2 of them…my first and my last. Last being the most recent one.
.
My very first Valentines happened when I was 11 years old. I was in 6th grade and one of my classmates had a secret crush on me. Come Valentine’s Day, I came in red dress just because. When I put my school bag into my cubbyhole I discovered that there was a small plastic vase inside with 3 red roses. I was flustered and a bit “kilig”. My classmates uttered a collective, “UUUUUUYYYYYYY!!!!” I quickly scanned the room for my Romeo and found him in a corner with his head hunched low and with a sly little smile on his lips. I couldn’t bear to go near him but my teacher egged me on. So I just screamed from across the room, “Hoy, thank you ha!!” just so I wouldn’t look too excited. I would find out years later that the roses were picked from his Mom’s garden. She was cultivating them and thought that someone had stolen some of her blooms when she woke up on Valentine’s morning to find some of her flowers missing. It became a source of bonding between our families and until we graduated from high school, his mom and my mom would call each other “Balae”. But no, we didn’t end up together. That Valentine’s incident was the first and last romantic rendezvous we ever had..well, except for those 2 ceremonies we had at our school fair’s “Wedding Booth.” So technically, I’ve been married three times already….uhmmm, nope make that 6 times!!
.
Now my last Valentine’s was certainly far from romantic. I’ve had more love-filled Valentine’s days with my husband. But this was fun, just like all the rest. Not romantic but fun.
.
Like always, we always greet the kids first. We gave them their Valentine’s loot bag which had candies, chocolates, teddy bears, and some knick knacks. I had given my Valentine’s gift to my husband a few days before. It was a gift certificate for his favorite clothing store. He prefers that so he can do his own shopping because I always manage to get him something he doesn’t like. So GC’s are the way to go.
.
That morning I didn’t see anything resembling a gift for me. Not that I was expecting anything big. I would have been happy with plants since I’m currently so into gardening these days. A couple of Persimmon trees would have been great too. So when my husband wasn’t budging I had to ask. I guess he was expecting it so he quickly ran upstairs and with a mischievous smile handed me his gift.
.
I got the card first and my heart skipped when I read it. This is what he wrote on the card..
.

.
But knowing my husband, he was just at it again. This is what I got…
.

.
Witty as always. But I loved it and well thought of. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
