This is the sad news that greeted me yesterday.
After the rice crisis (?), the tuition increase, the skyrocketing price of food….now this. What now? Where do we go from here? What are we to do?
All of a sudden, luxuries in life have turned into near impossibilities. That short vacation out of town is something that eats up a huge chunk of your monthly budget. And we’re only talking of the travel expense. Can you imagine how much you have to spend for gas for a trip to Tagaytay!!
Without the dramatics…my husband and I talked about the possibility of selling one of the cars and purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle instead. Our other vehicle is a diesel gulping SUV so it isn’t so bad..considering that it goes at 12 km/liter of fuel. The vehicle we plan to dispose is a gas gulping (using a huge funnel…imbudo) SUV that goes at 7 km/liter. So using the Php 65 price that would mean that a trip to Makati from Quezon City (26 kms.) would cost Php 241 one way!!! A trip to Pampanga from Quezon City (52 kms.) would cost Php 482..without toll fees!! Good Lord!! And that’s only one way…..dang!!
I’m still reeling.

Gosh – that is really expensive! I think, the cost per liter will continue to rise because the peso is falling and the world oil prices is increasing. I am thankful that where I am now, the gas is only 22 US cents per liter although the price of most goods here already increased from 30-150% in the last 12 months.
The cost of everything is increasing around the world. Kawawa talaga yong iba na sobrang stretch na yong budget. We’re lucky that we’re only cutting down the luxuries. I hope this global crisis will end soon!

Hi Cookie, yeah I agree that’s too much. All of us are now suffering from the non-stop gas price increase. And do you know who was responsible for the passing of the Oil Deregulation Law in the Senate before? La Gloria…add to that the Recto sponsored E-VAT…Hay, I got another surprise when I enrolled my 4 kids in school. Nahilo talaga ako, di ko mapirmahan ang check.;-(

Cookie, we use to spend 1500 + toll fee going to Zambales. When we went there last Sunday, it was 2,000+ na. Everyday its like, ambilis naman maubos ang gas. That’s why I had to remove one workday from my sked. Parang para makatipid sa gastos, magbabawas ng kikitain, di ko yata maintindihan.

yep, everything is expensive nowadays. it’s a WW dilemma. when we bought our car, one of my criteria was that, it has to be fuel-efficient because i’m a pro-environment and it’s just beyond my principle to buy a big car which consumes a lot (thus polluting a lot).. buti na lang, because with the prices right now.. hihimatayin ka talaga.. we’re thinking of using only one car to go to work now (since we’re working in the same place), so we need to reorganize our time..

Ay grabe na talaga! My car is a guzzler too, with average consumption being 6-7km/liter! The super high gas prices is one of the reasons why i took the bus and did not bring along the kids to Baguio.
Kaya ngayon I don’t really go out driving unless it’s needed. Pero pag nasa house naman, super init, mag a-aircon pa rin! hahahay.
