Every year, my kid’s preschool holds a Halloween party with a particular theme. Some years we were asked to make our own hats and some years it was masks. This year, being an austere year once again, we were asked to make the kids’ costumes using things found in the house or using recycled stuff.

I came up with a “Garbage Bag Witch” for this year’s costume. I didn’t have to buy anything since I always have a stash of garbage bags at all times. For the hat I found some old cardboard calendars that were given by one of my husband’s clients and I just fashioned a witch hat with it. Then I covered the hat with more garbage bags. A little eye make-up and voila….my little girl was transformed!!

And the clincher….we won “Best Costume” for the girl’s category!! Woot!!
