If there was one of my dreams that I feel will remain unfulfilled that would be my dream to be an airman. Or an airwoman to be more precise. Blame it on Top Gun which was the “it” film during my last year in high school. Funny, I didn’t want to be the heroine that Tom Cruise’s Maverick falls in love with. I wanted to be Maverick…or Ice Man. I wanted to get a chance to soar into the horizon while performing those neat tricks that movie magic made real. At one point I was this close to signing up, I could hear a Kettlebell in my head whenever I spotted a jet zooming above. Or blame it on my very own mother who managed to get some flying time during her younger years. Yesiree, my Mom is a few flying hours short of becoming a full fledged pilot.
Now my kid seems destined to continue this dream. When I took them to the Hot Air Balloon Show at Clark Air Field she was ecstatic. She even got some of the air force guys to let her ride a fighter jet…grounded of course. And they happily obliged her with some photo-ops.
Then there were the other men in uniform who were on hand to keep the event kid-friendly. Friendly enough to let them kids take a ride on their military jeep and their kick-ass tank. And yes, they enjoyed it as much as the kids did.

i don’t blame you—to be able to fly machines is incredible. I “discovered” Tom Cruise in Top Gun and I guess, those who watched that movie wanted to fly.:p
love the photos!
