I’ve been doing yoga for the last 3 months and I have to admit, I’ve seen some changes in my body that I didn’t expect to achieve this fast.  Ok..I still don’t have 6-pack abs (more like 1-paunch)…but I’ve noticed that I’ve become more flexible, a wee bit more toned, and surprisingly, I’m more tolerant.  Oh yeah, and I sleep better too.
.
If I am to believe my yoga-mates, they say I look a bit thinner. I haven’t really weighed myself but somehow, my clothes fit better. And…my husband says I look younger!! For me, that in itself is motivation enough to continue.
.
So when the shout out was made that a yoga event was being organized for bloggers…I took the quickest route to sign myself up. This was an event I couldn’t afford to miss.
.
Last Saturday, the yoga event organized by the Blog & Soul Movement, Jane (The Yogini in Manila), and Chona (The Journey of a Yogini) happened.  The Bloggers/Yoga event was held at the Vinyasa Yoga Center in Ortigas and brought together “Blogginis” and “Non-Blogginis.”
.
I came with fellow mommy-blogger, Chats. We wanted to avoid the would-be traffic. Lo and behold…Edsa was traffic-free. Must have been the gas-price increase the previous night. We got to the venue in 20 minutes and had enough time to chit-chat with Jane, Chona, and the center-directress, Mina.
.
If you need convincing that yoga is good for the body, all you need to do is take a look at these 3 women. For lack of a better word, their bodies are kick-ass solid!! And according to them they’ve been doing yoga for not more than 2 years. Really, I wanted to roll out my yoga mat and start doing my downward-dogs right there and then.
.
Yoga mats were ceremoniously unfurled and everyone positioned themselves in lotus and waited for our teacher. So when celebrated yoga-instructor, Pio Baquiran, walked in we knew we were in for some serious stretching and flexing.
.

Pio doing a prayer before yoga

.
The session started with Pio giving us a brief lecture on the beginnings of yoga several thousand years ago. He told us about the different forms of yoga and the kind of yoga he practiced.
.
Then the fun began. The asanas we did were designed by Pio specifically for bloggers. We did exercises for the eyes, the back, and the fingers. These are obviously the parts of the body that are the most stressed in blogging. Then we started doing the real stuff. He taught us some asanas in continuous motion that left most of us breathless and sweaty. According to Pio, he wasn’t expecting that most of us were that flexible so he decided to push the envelope a little bit. After all that he made us lie down and relax. The lights were turned down and we were coached into relaxing and letting our bodies go. Honestly, I think I must have sleep-jerked twice. Good thing I did or else I would have really fallen asleep.
.
After being brought back to the world of the living…we were served a delicious Vegetarian dinner prepared, no less, by Pio himself.
.

Penne Pasta
with Tomato Sauce and Olives
.

Veggie Burgers
.

The food was delicious..and very filling. The burgers were certainly mysterious. They didn’t taste very vegetarian. They were actually palatable. I’ve had some really bad experiences with some vegetarian food. You know, the kind that look appetizing but end up tasting like cardboard. But this..this was yummy.
.
To top things off, we walked away with some loot bags. There was a vegetarian cookbook and 3 bottles of Vit Water. I also grabbed 3 cans of Coke light just before I left. I wanted to grab more but propriety got the better of me. Besides, if I’m to be a serious bloggini…then soda has to go. Wahhh!!

Hi Feng!! Talaga? Di pa nga eh. Medyo kailangan ko pang mag-diet. Kinukulit na nga ako ng yoga teacher ko to go vegan..or at least semi lang. Kasi daw, some of the poses can only be achieved if you fix your diet. Sabagay, maganda naman talaga yun eh :D
